Also means
contested
Usage Note
Conteso describes something fought over or claimed by multiple parties — a territorio conteso is disputed territory. It can also describe a person in high demand: un attore molto conteso means an actor sought after by many directors. Do not confuse with contestato (challenged, protested), which implies more active opposition.
Examples
"Il territorio è ancora conteso tra i due paesi."
Natural Translation
The territory is still disputed between the two countries.
