Usage Note
Contestatore historically evokes the student and worker protesters of Italy's anni di piombo (late 1960s–70s). Today it refers more broadly to anyone who challenges authority or publicly disputes something. The feminine is contestatrice; the plural contestatori. The verb is contestare.
