Usage Note
Copricapo is a general term for any head covering — hats, caps, helmets, veils, turbans, and so on — used especially in formal or commercial contexts (copricapo invernale, 'winter headgear'). It is a compound of copri- (from coprire, 'to cover') + capo ('head'). The plural is invariable: i copricapo (the compound keeps its head-noun form). In informal speech, Italians usually name the specific item (cappello, berretto, casco).
Examples
"Indossa sempre un copricapo d'estate."
