criticism

noun KREE-tee-kah Less Common

Also means

review (literary)

Usage Note

Critica is feminine (la critica, plural le critiche — note the 'h' before 'e' to keep the hard 'k' sound). It means a critical judgement (ricevere critiche = to receive criticism) and also the body of critics as a collective (la critica letteraria = literary criticism). Critica can also function as an adjective in a slightly archaic register, but critico is the standard adjective.
