Usage Note
Detentore refers to someone who holds or possesses something, most often a title, record, or right: il detentore del titolo ('the title holder'). The feminine form is detentrice. Do not confuse it with detenuto ('prisoner'), which shares the same Latin root detinere but means someone held in custody.
Examples
"È il detentore del record mondiale."
Natural Translation
He is the holder of the world record.
