Usage Note

Dimissione is almost always used in the plural, dare le dimissioni meaning 'to hand in one's resignation'. The singular can also mean a hospital discharge, la dimissione dall'ospedale. Do not confuse it with dimissioni and the false friend dimission sense in English.

He-has given the resignations yesterday.
