Usage Note
Disagio ranges from mild social awkwardness (sentirsi a disagio — to feel ill at ease) to material hardship (vivere in condizioni di disagio — living in hardship). The plural disagi is used for concrete hardships or inconveniences. Note a disagio (ill at ease) vs a proprio agio (comfortable, at ease).
