Usage Note

Dritto is a variant of diritto (both mean 'straight'). As an adjective (vai dritto — 'go straight') it is interchangeable with diritto in everyday speech. The colloquial noun/adjective sense 'a shrewd one; a sly person' (è un dritto — 'he's a sly one') is informal and slightly ironic. Do not confuse with il diritto (a right/entitlement) or il dritto (the right side of fabric).
