Usage Note

Esitare takes avere as its auxiliary. It is commonly followed by a + infinitive: esito a dirglielo (I hesitate to tell him). The noun is esitazione. Note the single 's' between vowels is pronounced as a voiced 'z' sound, not as English 's'.
