Fattispecie is a formal legal and administrative term meaning a specific set of facts that constitute a case or instance — roughly 'the case at hand'. It is almost exclusively written; in speech Italians usually say il caso or la situazione. The word is invariable: la fattispecie and le fattispecie share the same form.
