Filosofare means to engage in philosophical reflection, but in everyday Italian it often has a slightly ironic or dismissive edge: smettila di filosofare (stop overthinking / stop waffling). It is a regular first-conjugation verb. The auxiliary in compound tenses is avere. The agent noun is filosofo/a (philosopher), a distinct form rather than a gerund-based construction.
