Usage Note

Flagrante is most familiar in the legal phrase in flagrante delicto (caught in the act), shortened in Italian to in flagrante or colto sul fatto. Outside legal contexts it describes something brazenly obvious. Like all adjectives ending in -ante, it has one form for both genders in the singular (flagrante) and flagranti in the plural.
