Usage Note
Fratturare means to crack or break a bone or rigid structure. It is commonly reflexive: si è fratturato il polso (he fractured his wrist). The auxiliary with reflexive use is essere; non-reflexive transitive use takes avere. The noun frattura (fracture) shares the same root.
