Usage Note

Illustrazione covers both a visual illustration (a drawing or picture in a book) and the act of explaining something clearly (l'illustrazione del programma = the presentation/explanation of the programme). The plural is illustrazioni. Illustratore / illustratrice is the person who creates illustrations. Do not confuse with illuminazione (lighting/enlightenment).
