impositore

tax imposer

noun eem-poh-zee-TOH-reh Rare

Also means

imposing authority

Usage Note

Impositore is a formal legal and fiscal term for an entity — typically the State — that imposes taxes or obligations. It appears mainly in administrative and political-science texts: il soggetto impositore ('the taxing subject/authority'). Crucially, it must not be confused with impostore ('impostor'), which differs by only one letter and has a completely different meaning.

Examples

"Lo Stato è il principale soggetto impositore."

Natural Translation

The State is the main taxing authority.
