impregiudicato

open; without prejudice; unbiased

adjective eem-preh-joo-dee-KAH-toh Rare

Origin: From Latin 'in-' (not) + 'praejudicatus' (prejudged).

Usage Note

Impregiudicato is primarily a legal and formal term meaning that a matter is not yet decided or that someone has no prior convictions (incensurato is the more common equivalent for the latter). In broader formal use it means 'not prejudiced by prior assumptions' — a question left impregiudicata is one deliberately left open. It is rarely used in casual speech.

Examples

"La questione resta impregiudicata per ora."

Natural Translation

The matter remains undecided for now.
