Usage Note
Inghiottire is conjugated like a regular -ire verb but takes the -isc- infix: inghiottisco, inghiottisci… in the present. Figuratively it means to swallow an insult without reacting (inghiottire un rospo = to swallow a toad = to put up with something unpleasant). It takes avere as auxiliary.
