insormontabile
insurmountable
adjective een-sor-mon-TAH-bee-leh Rare
Usage Note
Insormontabile describes an obstacle so great it cannot be overcome — un ostacolo insormontabile is a stock collocation. It is an invariable-ending adjective (same form for masculine and feminine). The near-synonym insuperabile can sometimes replace it but also means 'unsurpassable' in quality; insormontabile is more narrowly 'impossible to surmount.'
Examples
"Le difficoltà sembrano insormontabili."
Natural Translation
The difficulties seem insurmountable.
