Usage Note
Invidioso derives from invidia (envy) and describes a person consumed by envy of another's fortune or possessions. It differs subtly from geloso ('jealous'), which more often involves romantic possessiveness. The phrase non essere invidioso ('don't be envious') is a common colloquial caution. Agrees in gender: invidiosa, invidiosi, invidiose.
