Usage Note
Istintivo describes a reaction or behaviour driven by instinct rather than reason. It can be used positively (una risposta istintiva e giusta) or as mild criticism (troppo istintivo, 'too impulsive'). The adverb form is istintivamente. Not to be confused with intuitivo (intuitive), which implies a subtler, reasoning-based perception.
