Origin: Named after Alexander the Great (Albanian Leka).

Usage Note

Lek is the official currency of Albania. In Italian it is invariable and masculine: il lek, i lek. Its use is restricted to contexts involving Albanian finance or travel. It should not be confused with the English/biological term 'lek' (a bird courtship display area), which exists only in specialised zoological Italian.
