Usage Note

Licenziamento refers to the termination of an employment contract by the employer. Italian labour law distinguishes licenziamento per giusta causa (dismissal for just cause, no notice required) from licenziamento per giustificato motivo (dismissal with justified reason). The verb is licenziare. Do not confuse with dimissioni (resignation), which is initiated by the employee.

Examples

"Ha ricevuto il licenziamento senza preavviso."

Natural Translation

He received his dismissal without notice.
