Macelleria is where you buy meat from a macellaio (butcher). In Italian, specialty food shops have dedicated names: la panetteria/il forno (bakery), la pescheria (fishmonger), la salumeria (delicatessen). The word also carries a figurative sense of carnage or slaughter (una vera macelleria = a real bloodbath).
