Usage Note
Maniaco can describe a dangerously obsessed person (un maniaco omicida = a homicidal maniac) or, more loosely, someone who is fanatically devoted to something (un maniaco del lavoro = a workaholic). Feminine form: maniaca. The adjective maniacale (maniacal) is also common.
