Usage Note

Millennio refers to a period of 1,000 years; the plural i millenni is also common. In Italian pop culture, il millennio often evokes the year-2000 transition (il passaggio al nuovo millennio). The generational term millennial is borrowed directly into Italian as i millennial (invariable).
