Usage Note

Miocardite is the medical term for inflammation of the myocardium (heart muscle). Like most Italian medical terms ending in -ite, it is feminine. The plural is miocarditi. It should not be confused with pericardite (pericarditis, inflammation of the surrounding sac) or endocardite (endocarditis).
