Usage Note

Monologo refers both to a dramatic soliloquy and to any long one-sided speech in conversation — fare un monologo (to go on and on). Note the stress falls on the second syllable: mo-NO-lo-go. The plural is monologhi (hard g). Do not stress the third syllable as in English 'monologue'.
