Usage Note

Nemici is the masculine plural of nemico (enemy). The singular forms are nemico (m) and nemica (f); the feminine plural is nemiche. Note the spelling: the masculine plural adds -i but the 'c' softens to the 'ch' spelling to preserve the hard /k/ sound before -i (nemici, not nemicii). The word covers both personal enemies and military adversaries.
