Pattugliare is a regular -are verb meaning to patrol an area on foot or in a vehicle. It takes avere as the auxiliary in compound tenses: hanno pattugliato il quartiere (they patrolled the neighbourhood). The related noun is la pattuglia (patrol, squad).
