Pensabile is almost always used in negative constructions: non è pensabile ('it is unthinkable') or è appena pensabile ('it is barely conceivable'). The positive è pensabile is rare in informal speech. The antonym impensabile ('unthinkable') is far more frequent in everyday Italian.
