preoccupato

worried

adjective preh-ohk-koo-PAH-toh Rare

Also means

anxious

Usage Note

Preoccupato is the past participle of preoccuparsi used as an adjective. It agrees in gender and number: preoccupata (f), preoccupati (m pl), preoccupate (f pl). The construction essere preoccupato per (to be worried about) is standard. The noun is la preoccupazione (worry, concern). Do not confuse with occupato (busy/occupied) — the prefix pre- adds the sense of mental anticipatory concern.

Examples

"Sono preoccupato per i risultati degli esami."
