Progressivo describes something that advances step by step: un peggioramento progressivo (a gradual worsening), tassazione progressiva (progressive taxation). In grammar, the presente progressivo (stare + gerundio) expresses an ongoing action. The feminine is progressiva, plural progressivi/progressive. It is the antonym of regressivo (regressive).
