Promulgare is a formal legal term used when an authority officially publishes or enacts a law or decree. The verb takes avere as its auxiliary: ha promulgato la legge means 'he/she promulgated the law'. It is rarely used in everyday speech — in casual contexts Italians say pubblicare or approvare.
