Raffica primarily means a sudden gust of wind (una raffica di vento), but it is equally common in the sense of a burst of gunfire (una raffica di mitra = a burst from a submachine gun) or a rapid series of something (una raffica di domande = a barrage of questions). The plural is regular: raffiche.
