regia

direction (film/theatre)

noun reh-JEE-ah Rare

Also means

direction

Usage Note

Regia specifically means the artistic direction of a film, play, or broadcast — the work of the regista ('director'). It is not used for management direction in a business sense (that would be direzione or gestione). On Italian TV credits you will see regia di followed by the director's name. The plural is regie, though it is rarely needed.

Examples

Literal Translation

The direction of-the show is entrusted to a young talent.
