Also means
waiver
Usage Note
Rinuncia denotes a formal giving-up of a right, claim, or aspiration — closer to English 'renunciation' or 'waiver' than the milder 'giving up'. In legal contexts firmare una rinuncia means to sign a waiver. In everyday speech it can also describe personal sacrifice: una rinuncia dolorosa is 'a painful renunciation'.
Examples
"Ha firmato la rinuncia all'eredità."
Natural Translation
He signed the renunciation of the inheritance.
