Risiedere is more formal than abitare or vivere and is preferred in legal, bureaucratic, and written contexts: risiede a Milano ('has legal residence in Milan'). In the figurative sense it means 'the problem lies in…': il problema risiede nella mancanza di fondi. It uses avere as auxiliary and follows the regular -ere pattern.
