sardo
Sardinian
adjective SAR-doh Rare
Origin: From Latin Sardus, from the island name Sardinia.
Usage Note
Sardo means both 'Sardinian' (relating to Sardinia) and, as a noun, 'a Sardinian person' (un sardo, una sarda). It also names the Sardinian language (il sardo), which is considered by linguists to be one of the most conservative Romance languages. Do not confuse with sardina (sardine) — the fish and the people share etymological roots but are different words.
Examples
"La cucina sarda è ricca di sapori unici."
Natural Translation
Sardinian cuisine is rich in unique flavours.
