saturare

to saturate

verb sah-too-RAH-reh Rare

Origin: From Latin 'saturare'.

Also means

to fill to capacity

Usage Note

Saturare takes avere as its auxiliary. In chemistry it means to saturate a solution; in everyday language it means to fill a space or market to capacity. The related adjective saturo (saturated, full) is far more common in everyday speech than the verb itself: il mercato è saturo (the market is saturated).

Examples

"Il traffico ha saturato le strade cittadine."

Natural Translation
