sbagliato

wrong

adjective zbah-LYAH-toh Less Common

Also means

mistaken

Usage Note

Sbagliato is the past participle of sbagliare (to make a mistake), used freely as an adjective. Hai preso la strada sbagliata means 'you took the wrong road'. It also functions as a noun: uno sbagliato is 'a wrong one'. Note that sbagliato describes the thing that is wrong, not the person — for the person use in errore or the verb form.

Examples

"Ho preso il treno sbagliato."

Natural Translation

I took the wrong train.
