sbraitare

to shout, to yell

verb zbrah-ee-TAH-reh Rare

Also means

to rant

Usage Note

Sbraitare conveys not just shouting but an irritating, hectoring, or uncontrolled yelling — the image is of someone making a harsh, grating noise. It is more pejorative than simply urlare (to yell) and implies loss of composure or aggression. Smettila di sbraitare! ('stop your ranting!') is a common rebuke. The verb takes avere as auxiliary.

Examples

"Il capo sbraitava contro tutti in ufficio."

Natural Translation

The boss was yelling at everyone in the office.
