Usage Note

Scribacchino is a dismissive, pejorative term for a mediocre or prolific-but-poor writer, formed from scrivere (to write) with the deprecatory suffix -acchino. It is often used humorously or as a mild insult. The feminine is scribacchina. Do not confuse with scrivano (scribe, clerk) which is neutral. The verb scribacchiare means to scribble or to churn out poor writing.
