Usage Note

Sfuggita almost always appears in the fixed phrase di sfuggita (in passing, at a glance, fleetingly): l'ho visto solo di sfuggita (I only caught a glimpse of him). It is rarely used outside this idiom. Plural: le sfuggite (uncommon in isolation).
