Sgocciolo literally refers to the last drops draining from a container. It is most common in the fixed phrase agli sgoccioli ('at the last drops'), which means 'at the very end', 'in the final moments': il progetto è agli sgoccioli ('the project is in its final stages'). The verb form is sgocciolare ('to drip, drain'). The plural sgoccioli appears almost exclusively in this idiom.
