Usage Note
Sloveno functions as both adjective and noun: un uomo sloveno ('a Slovenian man'), uno sloveno ('a Slovenian person'). The language is also called lo sloveno. Note the initial sl- cluster, which Italian speakers pronounce without an inserted vowel — unlike in some dialects where sp-/st-/sc- attract a prothetic 'i'.
