Origin: From Late Latin subjectivus, from subjectus, 'placed under'.

Usage Note

Soggettivo contrasts with oggettivo ('objective') and is used in philosophy, art criticism, and everyday discussion. Note the double consonant: the spelling is sogg-, not sog-. The adverb form is soggettivamente. In legal and academic writing it often appears in phrases like diritto soggettivo (subjective right, i.e. a personal legal entitlement).
