Usage Note
Sordomuto is a compound of sordo (deaf) and muto (mute). In modern usage the term is considered outdated and potentially offensive; preferred alternatives are non udente (hearing-impaired) or sordo with specification of speech ability. The feminine form is sordomuta. It appears frequently in older legal and medical texts.
