Usage Note

Stessi is the masculine plural of stesso ('same' / 'self'). As a determiner it means 'the same' (gli stessi problemi = 'the same problems'); as a reflexive intensifier it means 'themselves' (loro stessi = 'they themselves'). It agrees in gender and number: stessa, stesse.
