Usage Note

Suicidio is the standard clinical and everyday term for suicide. The adjective suicida (suicidal) is also used as a noun (un suicida) for a person who has died by suicide. The phrase tentato suicidio means attempted suicide. Italian media guidelines recommend avoiding sensationalist reporting (cronaca nera) on the topic.
