Targare is a technical verb meaning to register a vehicle and assign it a licence plate (targa). An auto targata is a car with a registered plate. The past participle targato is commonly used as an adjective: veicolo targato Milano ('a vehicle registered in Milan'). Takes avere as its auxiliary.
